Started With a Single Lawn Mower

Back in 2009, our founder Marcus Chen was studying horticulture at TAFE while mowing lawns on weekends to pay tuition. What began as a way to fund education became something far more significant.

Clients started asking for more than basic mowing. They wanted someone who understood why their roses were struggling, how to fix drainage issues, which native plants would actually survive their soil. Marcus had the knowledge. He just needed the courage to build something with it.

Today, vague-ridge employs twelve certified staff and maintains over 400 properties on regular schedules. We have designed award-winning commercial landscapes and restored heritage gardens. But we still answer calls from homeowners who just need someone reliable to keep their lawn looking sharp.

Our Core Values

Reliability First

We show up when we say we will. Every appointment, every week, without reminders. Your garden maintenance should be one less thing to think about.

Sustainable Practices

Native plantings, organic fertilisers, water-wise irrigation. We design gardens that work with the Australian climate rather than fighting against it.

Continuous Learning

Horticulture evolves. Our team attends annual training on pest management, new plant varieties, and emerging sustainable techniques.

Client Partnership

We do not just follow instructions. We observe, suggest, and collaborate. The best outcomes happen when expertise meets vision.

People Behind the Gardens

Every team member is certified and genuinely passionate about plants.

Sustainability Is Not Optional

Australia faces real water challenges. Climate patterns shift each year. We cannot keep designing gardens that demand constant irrigation and chemical intervention.

That is why over 60% of the plants we install are native species suited to local rainfall. Our fertiliser programs prioritise slow-release organics. Irrigation systems include rain sensors and soil moisture monitoring.

Beautiful gardens should not come at environmental cost. They can actually contribute to local ecosystems when designed thoughtfully.
